From: Penny Halgren

Dear Friend,

Have you ever flipped the page of a calendar and realized that you’ve got less than a week to come up with a unique gift for a friend or someone in your family?  Or how about an auction for charity?

That happened to me last month.

My Rotary club was having its annual fundraiser, and they were looking for silent auction items, so I agreed to make a quilt.  Thing is, I made the commitment in January, thinking I would have plenty of time to make a traditional patchwork quilt.

Everything was planned, time was allocated for making the quilt in between packing all the stuff in my house to move (since the local hospital district bought my house), keeping up with posting articles and information on my websites, and handling all of the daily stuff that occurs.

The auction was in mid-April, and I had 3 1/2 months.  That should have been plenty of time.

It’s funny how just when you think you’ve got everything under control, something happens, and plans change.  Or a series of events, even.

For me, it was a seemingly never-end series of little events that just sucked up the time.

My 88 year old dad wasn’t too chipper and my mom was worried.  Daughter Stephanie decided to come home to visit him.  So my attention was diverted.  (He’s doing better now that they have changed his medicines.)

The loan I lined up for my new house became a problem with extra fees and last minute paperwork, so I decided to change lenders.  (The new loan was lined up in less than 30 minutes and was simple, simple; but still more forms to sign and calls to make.)

The new 40 year old house had dry rot (even though it had been inspected at a cost that should have reflected a very thorough inspection), so the “fixing up time” was extended from 2 weeks to 4 weeks.  And the complexity and number of the decisions about what work to do was increased.

You get the idea.

The time I needed to handle all of the new, unplanned events came from the time I had allocated to making the quilt for the Rotary fundraiser.

The next thing I knew, it was the middle of March, and the chairman of the Silent Auction committee casually asked when she might see the quilt.  Followed by an equally casual mention of the fact that she really needed it by the beginning of April.

Panic!

I couldn’t tell her I hadn’t even started it.  And for sure, I couldn’t tell her I wouldn’t be able to make one.

But…I had two weeks to make a quilt – plus keep up with everything else that was going on.

There was definitely no time to make a traditional patchwork quilt.  Good thing I hadn’t promised that.  I had only promised some kind of quilt.

Feeling lost, I wandered around my quilt book library and wondered what I could do.

Eventually it hit me – make a rag quilt!  After all, here I am spouting that you can make a fun rag quilt in less than a weekend.  And I surely had at least 17 hours I could devote to making a quilt – even if it were spread out over a few days instead of just one weekend.

But, what should the design be?

My experience with rag quilts to date had been a 5 patch and a Red Hat Rag Quilt.  Neither of those seemed appropriate.

I wanted something that had some kind of design element yet was relatively easy to make so it would go together quickly.

Then it occurred to me – how about a heart?

Everyone loves hearts.  And they seem to express the love that quilters enjoy sewing into their quilts.

I fired up my EQ5 quilt design software, and started drawing.  Within an hour I had a pattern for a Heart Rag Quilt that looked really easy to make, and would take only a few hours to put together.

A quick trip to the local fabric shop, and a quilt was in the works.

I was so excited about this quilt – the design expressing a quilter’s love, and how easy it would be to stitch together – that as I made the quilt, I decided I should share it with you, so I took pictures along the way.

The pictures were just sitting there on my computer, waiting for the right time.

I had been thinking Valentine’s Day, and had been slowly working on the step-by-step manual which I figured would be completed later this year.

Then I remembered Mother’s Day.

And soon I would be faced with finding the perfect gift for my mom.

It occurred to me that a Heart Rag Quilt might be the perfect gift for a mother, maybe even mine.

Then I thought about all of my quilting friends and wondered how many of us are in the same boat.  Not only looking at creating something in a relatively short period of time, but finding the perfect gift for the mother who seemingly has everything.

And I decided to share my Heart Rag Quilt step-by-step instructions with you.

So, I finished getting the photographs ready to insert in the manual, and changed my schedule around so I could complete the manual and have it ready for you by May 1.

And ready it is.

Announcing - Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love!

This manual steps in where Rag Quilt in a Weekend! leaves off.  In the first rag quilt book, the design is created from simple squares and the placement of color in those squares.

Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love! adds half square triangles to the mix – and shows you exactly how to make those simple blocks so your heart stands out in the center of this rag quilt.

Half square triangles, as scary as they sound, are really quite easy, and are the next step in the progression of increasing your quilting skills.

And making big, giant half square triangles is probably one of the best ways to get your feet wet in the half square triangle realm.

The blocks in this rag quilt are 8 inches finished size, not so small that it’s easy to stretch as you sew, and not so large that the fabric is hanging off your machine anxious to get stretched and pulled out of shape.

In short, if you want to learn to sew on the bias in the easiest, least risky way, making half square triangles for a rag quilt is just the ticket.

Plus because the blocks in this rag quilt are 8 inches, you can make a pretty big quilt with just a few blocks.  In fact, this quilt measures 48 inches by 40 inches finished size, and includes only 30 blocks.

Just think – only 30 blocks.  That should go together in no time at all.

Well, it will probably take you the same 17 hours it takes for the Rag Quilt in a Weekend! quilt.

Imagine, in a spare minute here and there, you could make a fabulous gift for the mother in your life, or anyone else who might enjoy a fun and funky quilt.

And Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love! is the perfect step by step guide to walk you through this part of your quilting journey.

All of the Mysteries of Making a Rag Quilt are Revealed in This Book

From fabric cutting to seam cutting, you get everything you need in Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love!

It’s not the number of pages that count, although this manual is a full 39 pages with tons of full color photographs of each step along the way.

It’s the instructions that count.  And this manual was created in the same, high quality, easy-to-understand, step-by-step, guide-you-by-the-hand instructions that we at www.How-to-Quilt.com and www.Rag-Quilt-Instructions.com are know for.

And it’s the secrets that we share that other quilters don’t.

From fabric cutting to seam cutting, you get everything you need in Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love!

  • Did you know that your rag quilt can be made from flannel, denim, cotton or cotton blends? Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love! divulges why polyester might not be the best choice for a rag quilt, and what type of fabric you should use to get the fuzzy fringe that makes a rag quilt unique. (pages 13-14).  With complete knowledge, you decide what kind of fabric to use, based on who your quilt is for and how it will be used. No guessing or playing “follow the leader.” You choose based on what you want. And your trip to the quilt shop will be relaxing and completely fun, because you will know exactly how much fabric to buy.

  • Sew your blocks together with the speed and efficiency of a professional quilter. This book is jam-packed with tips and tricks to save you time sewing your blocks together. Did you know that one of the most frustrating parts of making a quilt is keeping the blocks in the right sewing order? Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love! lets you in on the secrets of keeping your blocks in the correct sewing order, and shows you how to speed piece – saving you precious time and energy. (pages 31-32)

  • Seams open or sewn to one side? That really is the question in making this quilt. In traditional patchwork quilts, quilters generally agree it is best to fold seam allowances to one side. Is that true for rag quilts, too? Sometime “yes,” and sometimes “no.” You’ll find out in your copy of Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love! (page 35)

  • Binding or no binding? The simple answer is that this rag quilt requires no binding. You will discover the easy method for finishing the edges of this rag quilt to secure the inside layer and ensure that your quilt doesn’t “fringe away.” (pages 37-38)

  • Fringing and finishing – what makes it fringe, and how do you created the fringe without ruining your quilt? All of the techniques to create the fringe and finishing touches are right at your fingertips. Your finished quilt will age with grace as it is loved and used, and will be just as together 50 years from now as it is today. (pages 38-39)

From Fabric Cutting to Seam Cutting! Make sense now?

If You Can Sew a Straight Stitch, You can Make this Quilt!

A true beginner – even a non-quilter – can make this rag quilt. All of the sewing is simple, straight seams, and can be done on the machine.

Even making those scary half square triangles are simple using the tips and secrets spelled out in this manual. Even if you never thought about making a quilt, planned to make a quilt, or imagined that you could make a quilt, you can make this one!

Intermediate and advanced quilters may choose to simply refer to the pictures and zip right through making the quilt, checking in for the tips, tricks and shortcuts sprinkled throughout the book.

Regardless of your skill level, your finished quilt will look like it was made by an experienced quilter. Your family and friends will be amazed at your creativity and skill.

about A Beginner's Guide to Quilting

And the best thing of all – this quilt can be easily made in a few short hours.  Whether you complete it in one weekend or over a period of a few days is up to your time schedule.  But, believe me, you can complete this quilt in less than three days in your spare time.

That’s what I did!

From start to finish, it was three days in my spare time, and I was squeezing in an hour here and an hour there.  And you can do that, too.

This quilt doesn’t take a genius to make.  It just takes an organized, well-described and well-illustrated instruction guide.

Your copy of this book is just a mouse click away. Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love! is an electronic download. Once your credit card information is accepted, your book is ready to download, and you are ready to start making your rag quilt.

Heck, you could get started right now.  Why put it off so you only have three days to make it?

You may think that because it took such a short time to make this quilt, the manual describing how to make the Heart Rag Quilt took just 17 hours to write.

Let me assure you that is not the case.  I must admit that I am getting pretty good at cropping pictures and making them the right size for the instruction guide.

And since I have received such great feedback about Rag Quilt in a Weekend! I had a fairly good idea about what to include in this manual.

However, this quilt, like most quilts, is unique, and has special features that are not in any other rag quilt resource available on my sites.

Plus once the first draft was complete, there was the proof-reading, editing and re-proof-reading; making sure that all of the information you need was included right there when you need it as you make this rag quilt; and checking every other detail included so you wouldn’t need to think about anything – you could just turn the page and see exactly what to do, then just do it.

You will see that scores of hours were invested in this resource so your quilting project would be the “piece of cake” you deserve, especially as you make a special gift for your mom or other loved one in your life.

My marketing buddies tell me that this type of resource should sell for at least $77.00, and I have seen those kind of prices on other people’s sites.

But you know me.  My interest is to make this available to as many quilters as I can.  So when they said $77.00, I didn’t even seriously consider charging that price.

We all know that a full day workshop would set you back about $40.00, plus they make you buy the pattern for an additional $10.00 (for a total of $50.00), and you go home with a skimpy set of notes and try to remember what the teacher actually said in class vs. what some other quilter said – and who was right.

Or, you could hire a quilting expert to sit beside you and guide you as you make this rag quilt.  Now that would be kind of ridiculous and set you back hundreds of dollars.  Even at $40.00 per hour, which is a pretty low rate.

None of those prices seemed anywhere close to reasonable to me.

Because of the economy, I decided to make this great quilting resource available at an incredibly low $24 for the electronic download.  The printed version is a tiny $44 $34 plus $12 shipping and handling.  Remember there are tons of color photographs, making it very expensive to print.

Now is the time to grab your copy even if you have another gift planned for your mother.  Who knows, maybe your best friend would love this quilt and you could make it for her birthday.

Or maybe you could make it for your mother for Christmas. Or make this for her for Mother’s Day and save your gift for Christmas and delight in the knowledge that you have one gift purchase out of the way. Besides, who’s to say you can only make one of these quilts? Or that it has to be for your mother. The possibilities are endless.

These are so simple and fun that you might decide to make 5 of them, one for each of your cousins, or children, or aunts, or uncles. The sky is the limit.

And, because I am confident you will find immense value in this book, I am offering it to you risk-free. If you aren’t satisfied for any reason, or it doesn’t live up to your expectations, just let me know, and I will refund your entire payment. Right up to the final day of this 90 day money back guarantee!

That’s right! You can download this book today, get started making your rag quilt immediately, and if you are not completely happy at any time during the 90 days following your purchase – for any reason – just let me know, and your money will be refunded.

The value you will receive from Heart Rag Quilt – Share Your Love! alone is well worth the $24 price tag, but to make this offer even more valuable, you get 4 special bonus gifts!
